摘要
Corticosteroid hormones are said to maintain hydrosodic balance by activating the apical, amiloride-sensitive sodium channel (ASSC) and the basolateral sodium pump in the epithelial layer of selected organs. We found that the mineralocorticoid receptor (MCR) and the ASSC were colocalized in both the epithelial and the nonepithelial ocular cells, rat osteoblasts and leukemic cell lines. The growth of all of these cell types was altered by steroids targeted for specificty to the MCR. Thus, the steroid hormone mediated action on the ASSC appears to be a wide spread feature of the living cell.
