摘要：

Freshman seminars are nearly ubiquitous courses in Chinese higher education in recently years, so it should be completely investigated. The origin and the development of the freshman seminars in the world are described in this paper. The dilemma in the freshman seminars is examined and the corresponding way out is given under the detail analysis: we must concentrate our efforts on its management and the teachers' training. Finally the author points out other three issues need to be resolved, and reminds of the research problems in the near future.
