A Research on the Spirit of Chinese Universities from the Perspective of Social Responsibility

It is an inevitable responsibility of Chinese universities to insist the spirit and serve for the society. In the context of fast market economic development, many Chinese universities face a series of difficult choices in many aspects, e. g. continuously expanding recruitment and seeking more economic profits vs. limiting the recruitment of new students and reducing competition in the employment market. Someone criticizes think that some university cannot keep up with the trend of the times and provide responsible education; others accused that the development of many Chinese universities may be impeded by increasingly more vulgar and corruption resulting from the market economy. In this paper, the author discusses the direction of university development in the context of social economic development; and stresses that universities should insist their specific characters in serving for the society and inherits their responsible spirit although facing the pressure of going into the market.
