摘要
Bharat Merino is a strain of fine wool sheep, evolved at the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar, Rajasthan. This strain comprises 75% Rambouillet/Soviet Merino inheritance in the indigenous breeds viz. Nali, Chokla, Jaisalmeri and Malpura of Rajasthan. During the autumn of 1987, a sizeable number of Bharat Merino sheep was shifted to a sub-temperate region of Tamil Nadu - the Southern Regional Research Centre of CSWRI, located at Mannavanur (Kodaikanal). An effort has been made in the following paper to discuss the production performance (pertaining to data obtained over a decade) of Bharat Merino sheep in Mannavanur.
