摘要：
Wavelet based vector quantization (VQ) image coding methods have raised the attention from many scholars in recent years. In this paper, beginning with a discussion of the shortcomings of such kind of image coding systems, a new VQ image coding scheme is put forward that can match very well both characteristics of human visual system and wavelet images. Results of simulation quantify its efficiency.
