Recent advances in wireless communication and micro system technology has evolved the construction of sensor nodes. Such sensor nodes combine means for sensing environmental parameters, processors, wireless communication capabilities, and an autonomous power supply in a single tiny device that can be fabricated in large numbers at low cost. Large and dense networks of these untethered devices can then be deployed unobtrusively in the physical environment in order to observe a wide variety of real-world phenomena with unprecedented quality and scale while only marginally disturbing the observed physical processes. With the evolution of Sensor net-works, monitoring has become an important problem. In this paper we will describe about monitoring the Sensor Network applications which gather data (Data Gathering Sensor Network Applications). We will also discuss several current applications for monitoring sensor networks, their importance, what problems they address, what solution they provide and the future work. Finally, we will address the existing challenges in monitoring the sensor networks; and give our solution as a framework along with an example.
