摘要
Arctium lappa, commonly known as burdock, is being promoted as a healthy and nutritive food in Chinese societies. This study investigated the roots, seeds, and leaves of burdock in view of its popular uses in traditional Chinese medicine. Seven compounds, including three new ones, were isolated from the seeds of Arctium lappa. Structures of these compounds were examined by conducting extensive spectroscopic analysis. Biological analysis showed that compounds 4, 5, 6, and 7 could inhibit nitric oxide (NO) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, and the IC50 values were in the range of 14.7-18.3 mu M.
