摘要
Ingot-solidification modeling tools were developed and applied to optimize remelt processes in order to produce low-cost, high-quality alloy ingots at high production rates and with improved ingot yield. To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, a c omprehensive model to simulate the grain structure evolution during solidification of continuously cast ingots was also developed. The stochastic, mesoscopic model was applied to simulate the dendritic grain structure in Plasma Arc Melting processed Ti-17 alloy and Vacuum Arc Remelting processed alloy 718 ingots.
