Suitable Genotypes and Seed of Sugar Beet in the Czech Republic

The article evaluates the production potential of sugar beet varieties and its use in agricultural practice in the Czech Republic and indicates changes in the use of selected factors based on an assessment of the difference between production on agricultural practice and the results of small plot variety trials in a time series from 1980 to 2016. The highest production in root yield was achieved an average of the Czech Republic in 2014 (104.3 t.ha(-1)), on agricultural practice were also achieved the highest yield in 2014 (78.1 t.ha(-1)). The highest sugar content was achieved in small plot trials in 1991 (20 %) and the agricultural practice in 2005 (18.7 %). The highest yield of white sugar was in the Czech Republic in 2011 (11.3 t.ha(-1)), in experiments in 2014 (16.7 t.ha(-1)). Over the past 16 years the root yield calculated as 16 % sugar content has risen to agricultural practice by an average of 1.59 t.ha(-1) per year (in experiments an average of 2.44 t.ha(-1) per year). In agricultural practice, in the past five years, the production potential of root yield is used at 72 % and the potential of white sugar yield is used to 67.8 %. Use of production potential of sugar beet in agricultural practice increased dramatically, and ranks this crop among the appropriate sources not only to produce of white sugar, but also the sources to produce renewable energy.
