摘要
This paper presents a techno-economic and environmental investigation of a grid connected wind energy system in Jordan's desert as a case study application for an oil-importing country. The system is mathematically modeled in MATLAB based on the hourly instantaneous data of both wind speed and the 2016 load demand. Two artificial intelligence techniques of genetic algorithm (GA) and simulated annealing (SA) are used to get the global solution of the objective function, which is the cost of energy of retrofitted system. The carbon emissions and the cost of energy of the system are reduced by 58.39% and 18.74% respectively. So, harnessing wind power is a long-term solution and a viable alternative to the fossil fuels, because it is affordable and clean.
