Structures and photocatalytic activity of α-Fe2O3@TiO2 core-shell nanoparticles

摘要
We successfully fabricated the ellipsoidal alpha-Fe2O3@TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) by modifiedStober method and 3D flower-like alpha-Fe2O3@TiO2 NPs by solvothermal method, using tetrabutyl titanate (TBOT) as the titanium precursor. These as-obtained alpha-Fe2O3@TiO2 NPs were calcined at 500 ?C, and anatase TiO2 were uniformly deposited on surface of alpha-Fe2O3 cores. Due to the heterojunction effects, alpha-Fe2O3@TiO2 NPs exhibited much stronger optical absorption in ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) district. For degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB), 3D flower-like alpha-Fe2O3@TiO2 NPs displayed much higher photocatalytic activity than that of pure alpha-Fe2O3 and TiO2 NPs. Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism of alpha-Fe2O3@TiO(2 )NPs was proposed and explained.
