摘要：

Sporadic sociopolitical violence plagued Timor-Leste for much of 2006, a manifestation in many ways of the festering wounds associated with Indonesia's war and occupation. This violence spurred both international military intervention in an attempt to restore order and also a change in government, aggravating an already difficult socioeconomic situation.
