Kinetics of the low-pressure methanol synthesis in a slurry phase

Basing on a detailed reaction mechanism derived from literature, the kinetic model for the methanol synthesis on commercial Cu/ZnO/MnO3/Al2O3 catalyst was developed. The experimental data, obtained in a laboratory slurry reactor, were used for the estimation of the parameters in the proposed model. The model accurately predicts the experimentally determined rates of methanol and water production at temperatures between 493 and 523 K, pressures up to 5 MPa, space velocities 0,03-0,14 mol.kg(-1).s(-1).
