Behavior of titanium electrocoatings on nickel in fluoride melts

摘要
The behavior of titanium coatings obtained on nickel electrochemically from LiF-NaF-KF-K3TiF6 melts was studied under open-circuit and anodic polarization at 700 degrees C. We show that three definite compounds, TiNi3, TiNi and Ti2Ni are formed under the external pure titanium layer during cathodic polarization. Under open-circuit conditions, the different phases appear successively at the electrode/electrolyte interface by interphase movements due to intermetallic diffusion. Under anodic polarization, each phase appears at the electrode surface by anodic dissolution of the preceding one. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
