摘要
Most heating and air-conditioning equipment is powered by electricity. The mechanical engineer customarily lists the electrical characteristics of that equipment on the HVAC&R drawings. These characteristics include requirements for electrical protection-sizing the circuit conductors (wires) that feed the equipment as well as the fuses or circuit breakers that open the circuit in case of overload to protect the circuit and equipment, primarily from causing a fire. This article explains some of those requirements, which usually come from the applicable electrical code. Code references are to the 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC). Copyright 2015 ASHRAE.
