Mechanical properties of unbound aggregates from DCP and plate load tests

摘要
This paper presents the results of large Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests and plate load tests in unbound aggregates and natural granular soils used in flexible pavements. The large DCP consisted of a 51 mm diameter cone driven into the pavement layers and subgrade soils with a standard SPT device. In situ load tests were conducted with a 100 mm diameter plate installed at the desired depth in a 152 mm diameter augered hole. A correlation between elastic deformation modulus inferred from the plate load tests and DCP penetration index was obtained for nine different sites.
