摘要
The junctional zone may be considered as a separate distinct functional unit within the uterus. There is enough evidence to suggest that it has a central role in the processes of sperm transport and implantation. Junctional zone contractions should be considered as a serious mechanical force, which can facilitate or compromise the early survival of embryos in utero. In practice, the ET technique may have more implication than previously appreciated for success rates after assisted conception treatment and can contribute to higher than normal ectopic and heterotopic pregnancy rates. The possibility of controlling the junctional zone has never been properly investigated. We believe that gentle and atraumatic ET is the simplest and cheapest way to improve disappointing pregnancy rates based on our current understanding of increased junctional zone contractility.
