摘要
The aim of the research is to examine the use of social media in recruitment of young professionals in Pakistan. The study consists of a dependent variable recruitment and selection and four independent variables as perceived costs, perceived risks, perceived opportunities and perceived benefits. The study was described by the four questions: What and why perceived costs, perceived benefits, risks and opportunities are associated with the use of social media in recruitment of young professionals. A survey questionnaire was developed to conduct this study and the questions were included to address research purpose. Researcher sent questionnaire to 1.50 participants through email and by hand, out of which 106 being filled and send back, hence the response rate is 71%, the rest of 29% were not willing to fill the questionnaire. The data gathered was examined by using the Statistical. Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for descriptive statistics and demonstrated via means and standard deviations as well as Correlation and regression analysis was also employed to checked the association amongst dependent and independent variables. The results of first objective discovered that the utilization of social networking in recruitment is inexpensive for many organization. The research enormously acknowledges that social media hiring suggests an economical assortment to numerous old techniques for hiring. To examine the second objective, the results showed that when using social media, the human resource professionals gather consistent information for all candidates making fair hiring to all. To analyze third objective, the findings showed that there are several risks associated while using social networking sites and there was an uncertainty on other attributes such as political associations or physical presence are unrelated in online networking recruitment and selection. Lastly when examining fourth objective, it is observed that majority companies don't have job portal page focusing on young professionals. On the other hand, companies utilize LinkedIn to post new job opportunities. The research concludes that the proper utilization of online networking in recruitment and selection is reasonable for organizations, assist in contributing access a more extensive pool of candidates and has reduced time in recruitment and selection process. The use of online networking has allowed the Human resource professionals to gather standardized info of all candidates consequently ensuring fair to everyone. Lack of organization directions that govern the use of social media in recruitment and selection makes a lee method to misutilization of info as the professionals can access candidate's profiles without the owner's permission. Organizations are probably take advantage by the utilization of online networking for recruitment of young professionals as it targets candidates who are tech savvy. So far Linkedln is the most favored social networking website for recruitment and selection. Comparable researches should be attempted but concentrate should be on the young professionals keeping in mind the end goal to figure out what young professional prefer and favor in social media recruitment.
