Quantum Billiards Under the Influence of External Magnetic Field

摘要
As nanodevices go through the constant shrinking, quantum effects become more prevalent in these devices. As this happens it is important to understand the difference between quantum and classical behaviours in quantitative details. In this paper the dynamics of both classical and quantum particles under the influence of external magnetic field is simulated in a classically chaotic stadium. It is shown that while the classical particle follows a chaotic trajectory, the quantum wave packet remains confined in a section of the arena and follows a very regular pattern guided by the corresponding classical strange attractor.
