摘要
Two novel, wireless, batteryless, less-invasive blood pressure sensing microsystems based on circular cuff and flat cuff configurations are developed for advanced biomedical application. Both systems employ an instrumented silicone cuff, wrapped around a blood vessel, for real-time blood pressure monitoring. The cuff is filled by silicone gel with an immersed MEMS pressure sensor and integrated electronic system to detect a down-scaled vessel blood pressure waveform. The proposed sensing technique avoids vessel penetration and substantially minimizes vessel restriction due to the soft cuff elasticity. Implant experiments show that the circular sensing cuff is suitable for laboratory animals with an artery diameter around 1 mm, and the flat sensing cuff is adequate for laboratory mice exhibiting an artery size around 0.2 mm.
