摘要
In this paper we investigate an approach for systems that have a mix of real-time and non-real-time requirements. In this approach non-real-time processes use the Windows NT(R) operating system, and real-time processes run on a commercially available real-time extension to Nir: We evaluate this system by first studying the overhead and side effects of running two operating systems on a single platform. We next address the suitability of implementing a large-scale application by porting a tactical display system from Windows NT to the INtime real-time extension to NT We evaluate this system, both subjectively and quantitatively, and find it to be a good approach for implementing systems with a mix of real-time and non-real-time requirements.
