Contribution to ecology research about Swietenia macrophylla, King (Meliaceae) in Brazilian Amazonia

Swietenia macrophylla (Meliaceae) is nowadays very exploted in Amazonia. On the other hand, the growing of this forestal species is starting. The spatial distribution of the individuals tends to be of a gregarious type; the regeneration is low and, consequently, the number of saplings is very few. The growth is favoured by the exposition to direct sun light. These ecological characteristcs permit to suggest some management rules.
