Thirty patients greater than or equal to 80 years of age (mean 86) underwent diagnostic and/or therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The low mortality (6.6%) and complication (6.6%) rates lead us to believe that ERCP in octogenarians provides an acceptable route for diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic disorders.
