High-Temperature Dry Sliding Friction and Wear Characteristics of T6 Treated SiCp/A356 Composite

摘要
High temperature dry sliding friction and wear characteristics of T6 treated SiCp/A356 composite was investigated at UMT-2 tribometer using Al2O3 ceramic ball as dual material. The high temperature friction and wear behavior of the composite material was analyzed by SEM and Olympus confocal laser scanning microscope. The results show that the wear rate of T6 treated SiCp/A356 composite is increased with the temperature rising. When the temperature is lower than 150 degrees C, the wear rate is increased slowly with the temperature increasing. Afterwards, when the temperature keeps increasing, the wear rate reaches stability, which is 3.18x10(-5) mg.cm(-1). However, when the temperature reaches or is above 250 degrees C, the wear rates increases quickly. The average friction coefficient changes within the rage from 0.40 to 0.45, and the change is small over temperature, showing a strong stability. Meanwhile, with the temperature rising, the wear mechanism is changed from the oxidative wear, abrasive wear and exfoliative wear of low temperature into the adhesive wear.
