The Cauchy problem for the inelastic Enskog equation is considered for near-vacuum data. The global existence of mild and classical solutions of the inelastic Enskog equation is obtained. Then, based on some new functionals, we give the uniform L-1(x,v)-stability of solutions for the inelastic Enskog equation.
