Cultural Transitions: Shape and Context. Landscape of Defence in the Territory of Alessandria

Design and representation are disciplinary areas that can be seen as a "privileged laboratory of knowledge" because they enable us to compare different approaches and methods to knowing the territory in question, the landscape of defence in Alessandria and its Citadel. The investigation of shape and its representation helps to unravel the complex knowledge of architecture and its context. Nowadays, the subject of the Citadel of Alessandria is more topical than ever. The fort was decommissioned as State Property and it became one of the main characters of the present. So it can be known, investigated and disclosed in its entirety. The results of several previous studies and research activities in place can be processed in a project of interventions to enhance and re-use the cultural heritage. The same process can be used to act on these State Property. Interest can be focused on the landscape defence and its Citadel, and it can be analyzed about its sign generated by the fortress walls shape.
