Ka-band land mobile satellite channel model: With rain attenuation and other weather impairments in equatorial zone

摘要
In this paper, the statistical characteristics of rain attenuation in equatorial zone will be investigated at first. Then in comparison with Loo's Ka-band weather land mobile satellite (LMS) channel model, a more reasonable LMS channel model incorporated with weather impairments will be proposed based on Lutz's LMS channel model. The PDF of received signal and BER performance with Loo's and our Ka-band weather LMS channel model will be quantified and compared, the effect of weather impairments and rain attenuation on BER performance will be evaluated.
