Light effects on larval hatching in the bushcricket species Poecilimon veluchianus (Orthoptera: Phaneropteridae)

Larval hatching rate and timing of hatching was examined under different illumination conditions in the bushcricket Poecilimon veluchianus Ramme 1930. Constant light inhibited hatching. Hatching was triggered by lights on and by about 12 hours scotophase. Thus, there seem to be two independent mechanisms that influence the timing of hatching.
