摘要
The Mathematical model of lubrication in journal bearings is formulated as a free boundary problem. An equivalent variational problem is found. Then an approximate solution for the equivalent variational problem is sought by representing the unknown pressure and the unknown boundary as linear combinations of functions belonging to a given complete sequence of linearly independent functions. Thus the variational problem is recast to the realm of mathematical programming. A computer program is written and implemented successfully to solve the lubrication in journal bearings. The results' seem to be realistic.
