A compact and broadband waveguide twist is proposed to provide a very compact interconnection of two rectangular waveguides with 90-degree on-axis rotation. The superiority of proposed waveguide twist is the easy for manufacturing and the reduction of the overall dimensions. Compare to commercially available waveguide twist, the waveguide twist is utilizing the principle of electromagnetic wave coupling to achieve the polarization direction changing 90 degrees in the minimum dimension, the length is only 0.25 times the guided-wave lengths. And the configuration is so simple. Simulation results reveal that the reflection coefficient of the proposed waveguide twist less than -20dB and the insertion loss larger than -0.03dB are obtained over operating bandwidth.
