摘要
A diabetic patient with penile infection and subsequent gangrene following the insertion of an inflatable penile prosthesis and phalloplasty is discussed. The patient required prosthesis removal, aggressive debridement, and eventual partial penectomy. This case illustrates a particularly severe infectious complication and underscores the difficulty of perioperative management of diabetic patients after complex penile reconstructive surgery. The untoward outcome may preclude a combined procedure in patients with such complex problems.
