摘要
Discontinuous product innovations often bring about failure to incumbent firms and elevate entrant firms. Previous research has identified the fundamental difference between incremental and discontinuous innovation in terms of creative contribution. This paper proposes that the early stage of NPD project is primarily a creative process. To achieve success in discontinuous product innovation, team members should be motivated explicitly to create discontinuous ideas. The result of a preliminary trial of this motivator is reported.
