摘要
The aim of this research focuses on identifying the main trends in the academic literature in relation to fake news and media misinformation in social networks. For this purpose, a bibliometric study has been carried out where the international scientific production found in the academic database Web of Science Core Collection has been analyzed. Following the PRISMA methodology, 180 articles have been selected for analysis. The study and processing of the information was carried out using the statistical programs HistCite, to analyze and organize the results of a search; Bibexcel for the manipulation and transformation of bibliographic records; and, finally, VOSviewer for the representation and analysis of the information. The review carried out allows us to affirm that research linked to this construct has increased in the last decade, with 2020 standing out as the year of greatest productivity and the journal Social Media + Society, as the one that published the most articles. The results show the importance that the topic has gained in the academic literature on media misinformation and fake news in social networks.
