摘要
This study aims to evaluate the usage of teak sawdust and zeolite as an adsorbent of Cr(VI) ion; optimal composition ratio of the composite adsorbent; and the sensitivity of solid-phase spectrophotometry (SPS) as a method to determine the levels of Cr(VI) ion as an adsorption results of adsorbents. The adsorbent used were teak sawdust activated carbon and zeolite as a single and composite adsorbents. The teak sawdust carbonization using muffle furnace and then activated with H3PO4 10% while the zeolite with H2SO4 10%. The contacting process of the adsorbents with Cr(VI) was done by varying the compositions. Analysis of Cr(VI) level was done using SPS method. Characterization of adsorbent before and after being activated is done using a FTIR. The results showed that teak sawdust and zeolite can be used as adsorbents to adsorb Cr(VI) in the simulated liquid waste with the adsorption capacity 1.19 mu g/g; the optimum composition ratio of teak sawdust activated carbon and zeolite was 75%: 25% with the percentage of adsorption was 62.72%. Solid-phase spectrophotometry is a sensitive method to analyze the decreased levels of Cr(VI) as an adsorption results in mu g/L level with the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.03 mu g/L.
