摘要：

This paper is a synopsis of the research portion of the National Extension Workshop conducted at the 98th annual meeting of PSA. This workshop provided an overview of the direct impact land grant universities have on the poultry industry. Several members from across the poultry industry and allied industries provided their views on topics pertaining to improving university research to better benefit the industry as a whole. Among the topics discussed were the benefits of industry advisory committees, the source(s) of monetary support for university research, the industry's need for both applied and basic research, and the usefulness of the Midwest Poultry Consortium.
