First Principle Calculation for High Harmonic Generation in Diamond

摘要
High harmonic generation from dielectrics is theoretically investigated with the first-principles calculation. The electron dynamics in an infinite periodic system induced by an intense, ultra-short laser pulse is described in the framework of time-dependent density-functional theory. For a diamond interacting with a laser of intensity 1 x 10(14) W/cm(2) and photon energy 1.55 ev, we have found high harmonic generation up to eleventh order. We also point out the significance of the induced polarization on the high harmonic emission.
