摘要
This paper studies the use of entire-domain basis functions constructed with the Zernike polynomials to evaluate the characteristic modes of a circular conducting plate. Some new mathematical relations of the Zernike polynomials are discovered, which allows the generalized impedance matrix to be obtained in a completely analytical manner without the need of meshing or numerical integrations. This new approach is stable and efficient, and its validity is verified by comparing to the results produced by the common RWG sub-domain basis functions.
