A report is given of the third cement line at Rajashree Cement in Malkhed in India, which was erected in record time; commissioning was completed with the firing of the kiln 19.5 months after placing the contract. The heart of the new cement line is the kiln plant with a guaranteed clinker throughput of 3500 t/d. The kiln plant has a 6-stage cyclone preheater with calciner and is fired with coal; a specific heat consumption of around 700 kcal/kg clinker is expected. Power-saving schemes using high compression comminution were implemented both for the production of raw meal and in the cement grinding system. The plant is controlled from a central control room by a modern control system. As a whole the new cement line is provided with equipment and engineering solutions which in many respects correspond to the standard of a cement works in Europe. The third cement line gives Rajashree Cement a cement capacity of 3.0 million t/year.
