摘要
Chakouyi horse (Equus caballus) is a native and endangered breed of riding horse in China. This study reports the complete mitochondrial genome of the Chakouyi horse using next-generation sequencing. The full length of the circular genome is 16,656 bp. It consists of 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) and 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and a control region. The orientation and arrangement of these genes is similar to that of the other sequenced horse mitochondrial genomes. The overall nucleotide composition is: 32.2% A, 25.8% T, 28.6% C, and 13.4% G, with a total A + T content of 58.0%. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the genome of Chakouyi horse clustered within the lineage of most Asian horses and is closely related to Russian riding horse.
