Photon polarization operator in an external color field

摘要
The photon polarization operator in an external non-Abelian chromomagnetic field simulating a QCD vacuum gluon condensate is considered. The one-loop quark contribution to the photon polarization operator is calculated for the SU(2) and SU(3) gauge color groups. The resulting imaginary part of the photon polarization operator is used to analyze the effect of the gluon-condensate field on the production of quark-antiquark pairs in electron-positron annihilation. The relevant cross section is found to be a nonanalytic function of the condensate field, and the effect of this field is estimated for the case of heavy quarks.
