A novel PVC-membrane optical sensor for high sensitive and selective determination of Cu2+ ion based on synthesized (E)-N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)isonicotin-ohydrazide

摘要
A highly sensitive ion-selective bulk optode membrane for the determination of Cu2+ ion content based on a plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane based on ingredients such as DBP, (E)-N'-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)isonicotin-ohydrazide as ionophore and sodium tetraphenylborate (Na-TPB) as ionic additive was prepared. In addition to its high stability, reproducibility and relatively long lifetime, the proposed optical sensor revealed good selectivity for Cu2+ ions. The proposed sensor displays a calibration response for Cu2+ ions over a concentration range of 3.2 x 10(-5) to 8.28 x 10(-7) M with a limit of detection of 1.9 x 10(-7) M and a response time of 6 min. The proposed optical sensor was applied successfully for the determination of Cu2+ ion in tap water, river water and waste water samples. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
