摘要
A cat was presented because of knotty skin alterations. Smears of the tissue stained according to Ziehl-Neelsen showed acid fast rods. Within five days the bacteria could be cultured on blood and chocolate agar. By genus specific PCR of culture material the bacteria were identified as Mycobacterium (M.) species. By speed of growth they could be classified in group IV of fast growing mycobacteria according to Runyon's system. They were differentiated as M. thermoresistibile by 16S rDNA sequencing. The owner refused treatment and did not present the animal again.
