Application of Photocatalytic Method in Decomposition of Ammonia from Wastewater and Water

Combustion of wastewater containing hazardous substances has been common for many years, while this method can only be justified for high-concentration wastewater (without considering atmospheric pollution of air). Chemical, electrochemical, photochemical, and photocatalytic oxidation methods for hazardous wastewater are among the newest and most recent solutions for the complete removal of pollutants. Some of the photocatalysts used for the decomposition of ammonia from the wastewater in this study are the catalysts (Pt-2) TiO, Ce+2 and Ag+ based on TiO2, RuO2/Ti and IrO2/Ti),In summary, it can be stated that the photocatalytic decomposition of ammonia by Pt particles based on (Pt-TiO2) TiO2 converts the ammonia component in the wastewater to inert N-2 and H-2 gases. The best performance has been obtained at the rate of 5.0% of platinum. TiO2-based Ce+3 and Ag+ nanoparticles have also been used in the photocatalytic decomposition of ammonia, which removes nitrogen from the ammonia solution and have shown good performance under sunlight.In this method, the optimum value of silver and cerium is obtained to be 1.0%. In the UPE process with catalysts RuO2/Ti and IrO2/Ti, approximately 98% of ammonia is decomposed. CL-is also used as an inducing agent, OH and CL radicals are produced under the light of UV and they are the main cause of ammonia oxidation. In the photocatalytic decomposition of ammonia, in the gaseous state using anatase titanium dioxide, it is 5 to 8 times more than that of the rutile.According to the results, THP glass-ceramic photocatalyst has shown acceptable performance in the absorption of gaseous NH3. In general, it can be concluded that photocatalytic decomposition is easier in the gaseous state than in the liquid state.
