SA8000 and International Competitiveness of Chinese Enterprises

SA8000 is the first international standard certified by the third party and implemented strongly in developed countries. For quite some time, low labor costs have been regarded as competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the international market. However, low labor costs become increasingly a bottleneck for the development of most Chinese enterprises. In this paper, the author argues that the development of new and old international competitiveness of Chinese enterprises is not synchronized. Only through taking various measures to promote the SA8000 certification, can Chinese enterprises break through the developing bottleneck and achieve sustainable development.
