Women, politics and performance in South African theatre today: Introduction

The contributors to these volumes write from many different perspectives, races, cultures. My own voice can only mediate. Here, I set out to say, as briefly as possible, how the project which led to these journal issues came about. I then introduce the issues, the people, the places and the ideas which occur and recur with compelling frequency throughout these pages.
