摘要：
Animal agriculture is at a crossroads in time. Demand for food of animal origin is roaring in the developing countries. Environmental impact of animal production is causing concern. In addition social needs like demand for rural space and perceptions of animal welfare require an integrated approach to development of multifunctional animal agriculture. Animal nutritionists are challenged in the new millennium to provide new technologies supporting food production, sustaining the environmental resources and accommodating the socio-economics needs of mankind.
