An efficient synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols catalyzed by zinc oxide nanoparticles under solvent-free conditions

摘要
A series, of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol derivatives have been synthesized by one-pot condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes, beta-naphthol and amide/urea using zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). The microwave irradiation and thermal (hot plate and oil bath) techniques have been used and the corresponding products are obtained in good to excellent yields under solvent-free conditions. This protocol is developed as a clean and safe method utilizing a non-toxic and highly efficient heterogenous, catalyst which can be recovered and recycled for three consecutive times without significant loss in catalytic activity.
