Self-frequency conversion in nonlinear laser crystals

摘要
In the self-frequency doubling or summing laser, the fact that the same crystal is used for laser action and nonlinear frequency conversion leads to compact and robust devices which can be diode pumped. We present the results obtained with the main crystals involved in these devices at the present time: GdCOB:Nd, NYAB and NGAB. High efficiency is obtained from NYAB and NGAB but due to a favorable crystal growth and good mechanical as well as nonlinear and spectroscopic properties, GdCOB is an excellent candidate for low cost microchip lasers. In addition, we also give some data on Raman shifter type Nd3+-doped tungstate crystal. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
