摘要
Measurements made by the team of the Terrestrial measurements and Cadastre Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the Technical University of Cluj Napoca during the month of November 2014 on the verticality of the highest building in Romania, i.e. the 351.5 m smoke chimney from Baia Mare, found a significant deviation from verticality which occurred since the previous measurement cycle conducted in March 2013. The deviation, which exceeds half a meter, was confirmed in December 2014 using laser scanner technology, Leica ScanStation C10, by the measurement made in collaboration with TopGEOCART, Leica representative in Romania. Among the possible causes of the phenomenon can be the intense demolition activity of the former non-ferrous ore processing plant, and virtually of all constructions around the chimney. The fate of the objective is not yet decided, the authorities oscillating between demolition, greening and decontamination of the whole area and reuse thereof as an industrial technology park, or preserving the chimney, given its significance and visibility. This paper show comparative the results obtained by classical technology, using several total topographic stations with different accuracies and those obtained by laser scanning. The authors intend to repeat the measurements through a new cycle, both by classical technology and laser scanner in July of this year, eight months after the first finding of the deviation in order to determine if the tilt phenomenon progressed or stagnated given the gravity of the situation and the imminent danger of collapse of the chimney.
