VIOLENCE AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITY

The aim of the paper is to give on overview of existing regulations in the held of prevention and suppression of violence against persons with disability in the Republic of Croatia Furthermore, the article gives a short overview of current insight into the prevalence, forms, risk factors, consequences, perpetrators as well as obstacles with which persons with disabilities are faced in their fight against violence. The results of mainly foreign research on violence against persons with disabilities are also presented with an emphasis on specific forms of violence which are closely related to the environment in which the victim lives Since the phenomenon of violence against persons with disabilities has not been widely researched in the Republic of Croatia and there is no scientifically based knowledge on that issue, the article relies on the results of the research conducted abroad and emphasizes the need to study all the segments of violence against persons with disability in the Republic of Croatia
